Who Are Surfers Against Sewage?
Surfers Against Sewage is a grassroots environmental charity dedicated to protecting the oceans, waves, beaches, and wildlife from sewage and plastic pollution. Founded by surfers who witnessed the devastating impact of ocean pollution on their beloved waves, SAS has grown into a leading voice for marine conservation in the UK. They work tirelessly to rid our seas of the deafening problem of sewage and plastic pollution.
Why We Support SurfersAgainstSewage
At Ecohaven, our journey began when Karine, our founder, discovered her love for swimming and witnessed firsthand the overwhelming plastic pollution in our oceans. This personal realisation sparked a desire to make a difference. Every year, over 8 million tonnes of plastic waste enters the ocean, damaging marine ecosystems and endangering wildlife. The sobering fact that only 9% of plastic is ever recycled motivated us to take action, not only by reducing our own plastic use but by helping our customers make eco-conscious choices too.

From the very beginning, we’ve aligned our mission with the values of Surfers Against Sewage. We’ve taken several steps to support their cause:
Community Involvement: As active members of the Plastic Free Eastbourne community, we participate in beach cleans, eco fairs, and the Spring Water Festival.
Raise awareness about plastic pollution and promote sustainable living at every opportunity.
Fundraiser: Every October, we take the plunge with a “Dip A Day” event to raise funds for Surfers Against Sewage’s work.
